Image096Real estate has been an exciting adventure for me over the years (heck -decades now) as it is one of the few things I’ve allowed to teach me the lessons of life…  One of my goals (as I assume everyone’s) is to leave a legacy of both something tangible and intangible for my family, friends, fellow real estate investors, and our local metrolinareia here in Charlotte, North Carolina.  While I will always be an active investor and hard money lender locally, my businesses have taken my time in another direction (at least for the moment)…

Who knew that with this past downturn in the real estate markets that I would have the opportunity to push my other interest of the internet (and all it has to offer)…

I’ve always said that you have to run with what presents itself so with that said…,  I have moved my operations from my humble beginnings on 36th Street in NoDa to an official warehouse on the edge of Plaza Midwood….

You know this office?  -the place the represents quitting the corporate job, the announcement of Emmy’s arrival, taking back my rental portfolio with a 43% vacancy rate, a bustling hard money lending operation, and self discoveries of whom I am and where I want to go. I’ve thought about keeping the 2-story office -you know that one I have so many memories from of friends, family, real estate deals, good times, bad…, and even the crazy! 😉     However, my internal calculator says that efficiency must prevail and as I tell my clients…

“There will always be another one (piece of property)”

I’ve had a lot of mentors both in real estate and outside whom without, I would not be where I am…  Paul Wenke, Dyches Boddiford,  Jeffery Taylor, Sean Coon, Dr. Fletcher, Wes Dick, David Schumacher, and many many more -but first and foremost: Pearl N. Summers….

I find it only fitting that the sale of my office is the epitomy of a creative real estate transaction -not to mention it would only happen with someone of utmost character and respect for me to have the comfort of carrying out.  Bryan Alenky is the next generation of real estate investors here in Charlotte, NC -someone I’ve been watching for 5-6 years since he reached out on that lease option deal. Whether he knows it or not, he humbles me, instills gratitude, and helps ground me in reminding me of “why I do what I do…”

So with that said  over the next few months, expect to hear about our adventure of contract for deeds, wrap mortgages, subdivision rules, key man offices, deed of trusts, equity participation, and new construction…

Wow -that’s a mouthful!

If you had asked me where I’d be today some 2o years ago when my real estate adventures began, I probably would not of listed 80% of what has happened…, I’m sure the next 20 will be just as crazy.., funny how it’s all tied to a piece of property
